Safe conception after miscarriage

Safe conception after miscarriage

I just had a miscarriage at five weeks, when is it right for me to start TTC again?

Our midwife Melissa says:

"I am sorry for your loss.  Miscarriage is always tough on women and men emotionally and it does take time to heal.  It is perfectly safe to start trying in your next cycle, and some research suggests that the cycle following a miscarriage is generally very fertile.  The question is how you would feel to become pregnant, and whether you feel you need to give yourself some time.  For some women, trying again is the best decision, while for others, some time is needed.  Go gently whatever you decide."

This answer was written for Birth by midwife Melissa Maimann from Essential Birth Consulting.
