Packing for a planned Caesarean birth

Packing for a planned Caesarean birth

Personal Items for the woman after the birth

Comfortable Pyjamas, shirts or saris. Consider the need for easy access for breastfeeding. Perhaps some comfortable clothes for when you are up and about and a set of clothes to wear home.
A dressing gown, housecoat.
Slippers or flat comfy shoes.
Warm socks (feet can get cold).
At least 6 to 10 pairs of underpants. Generally ones that come high up on your belly, away from the caesarean scar. The scar will usually be low, along the top of the pubic hairline.
2 packs of maternity sanitary pads.
Toiletries.
Lip Balm, for dry lips.
Clips head bands or hair ties for after the operation.
A photo of your other child (ren), your pet or favourite holiday destination to look at.
Breast pads for when your milk comes in 2-4 days after the birth.
A set of clothes for your baby to go home in (some hospitals ask you to supply other items for the baby, check with your hospital).
Equipment and formula for bottle-feeding if you intend to do this and the hospital asks you to supply this.
