Early concerns in the first 2 weeks

Early concerns in the first 2 weeks

Most parents are unsure about what can be 'normal' in regards to their new baby's physical appearance, bodily functions and/or behaviour in the early weeks. This may also be the case if it is not your first baby, as different babies often present with different issues. Many parents are surprised, concerned and/or alarmed about the numerous and varied things they notice. Not knowing the answer to "Is this normal?" can cause much distress for all concerned.

Babies (and their parents) go through some amazing adjustments in the first weeks after the birth. One of the most obvious is the inevitable skin rashes, or dry and peeling skin that many beautiful babies develop in the first few weeks after the birth. Other babies will continually vomit milk, or hiccup quite frequently. These are all generally very normal.

For more in depth information on some of the more common early concerns that many parents can be faced with in the first 2 weeks after the birth, you can click onto the different topics below. There are also some helpful suggestions and support strategies that other parents have used to help them deal with some of these early concerns.
