Q2. Can I sleep on my back?

Q2. Can I sleep on my back?

QII. Can I sleep on my back?

As a general rule, you should try not to lie flat on your back for more than a few minutes at a time after about 24 to 28 weeks of the pregnancy. (Although ironically this is often what happens at your routine pregnancy visits, while your caregiver checks your pregnant belly!) Sleeping on your left or right side is best. However, it is possible to sleep somewhat on your back during the last few months of pregnancy. You can do this by placing a flattish pillow under the right side of your body. This slightly tilts your body off towards your left hand side, moving your uterus off the vena cava blood vessel to avoid compressing it. QIII. What about travelling while I am pregnant?

Many women travel as part of their job or for pleasure. In some cases a trip is planned to be home, or nearer to family and/or friends for the birth of the baby. Essentially, travelling during pregnancy is not a problem, but there a few precautions to be mindful of, especially when travelling long distances. There are also some practical considerations to think about when planning your travel. You can read about car, train, bus and plane travel, as well as 'economy class syndrome' in travel during pregnancy.
