Intense grieving normally lasts for up to a year or more. Parents will always grieve to some degree for their baby and will never forget them, but the pain lessens and life at some time will begin to take on some form of normality. Occasionally the fear of 'forgetting' their baby can hinder a parent from moving forward with their lives. This is normal and can be worked through. Grief comes and goes and the intensity of your emotions will rise and fall, sometimes overwhelmingly and at other times controllably.

Talking with others who have experienced a similar loss and who have been able to find direction in their lives can sometimes help obtain understanding and give you some hope that things will improve.

Depending on where you live, there are organisations you can contact if you feel you need extra support at this time. These are usually voluntarily staffed by people who have been through what you have experienced and can put you in contact with local support groups if you feel you want this.
