The following is an example of what you may want to include on your birth plan for having a home birth. You can add, change or delete any aspects to suit your needs.

Our names: Bernie and Ben

Our baby is called "little one" until born!

We plan to have our baby at home. We understand that labour can have many variables and possibly unexpected outcomes. We are prepared to 'take it as it comes', changing our decisions along the way. We look for guidance from our midwife when needed, and in the event of transferring to hospital we ask that she take on the role of our advocate.

Photos are to be taken at various stages, unless I say otherwise. No flash please.

Prelabour and early 1st stage labour

	For Bernie and Ben to create a relaxed environment and finalise any last minute details.
	For labour to start of its own accord, in its own time.
	To call the support people and the midwife to let them know it has started so they can arrange their time, but not to come yet.
	For Bernie to walk, swim if she feels like it if the waters are not broken.
	For Ben to get birth pool ready.
	Let the neighbours know, if daytime (you may wish to do this a week or two in advance instead of on the day).
	For Ben and Bernie to panic briefly and get it over and done with.
	To remind ourselves it is just the beginning and to sleep, eat and rest.
