Advantages of a separate room
Disadvantages of a separate room
You may choose to have your baby sleep in their own room (or with their sibling). This may be a personal preference, or the only solution if your room can't accommodate a baby's bed, or you find your baby's frequent noises are keeping you awake at night. However, if the room is positioned far away from yours, you may need to consider an audio speaker, so you can hear when your baby cries (which may not resolve the listening to your baby's noises during the night).
Advantages of a separate room. The following are some advantages that parents have identified when their baby has their own room.

Maintaining your bedroom as your own space. Unhindered intimacy (when your baby is finally asleep). |
 |
Undisturbed sleep, other than for feeding. |
 |
Perhaps happier siblings (the sleeping arrangements are seen as 'equal'). |
 |
A greater tendency to leave the room to care for your baby. This may suit your partner if they have long working days and you have agreed to 'let him sleep'. |
