Therapies for restless legs

Therapies for restless legs

There are a few treatments and natural therapies that some women have found helpful for restless legs. These can include:

Minerals. Minerals play a role in how our muscles function. Some women will use Cell Salts or Magnesium phosphate supplements. Check with your naturopath or health food store.

Massage. Massaging the legs with a massage oil from the toes up before bed. Some women will use a peppermint gel or cream to help stimulate their circulation.

Baths. A long, warm bath can help to relax the legs.

Physical activity. Going for walks and doing 'isometric exercises' of the calves and thighs. Isometric exercises are alternating the tightening and releasing of the muscles or pointing the toes up and down. Taking breaks from sitting for long periods can also help. Some women find Yoga is beneficial.

Acupuncture and acupressure. Acupuncture or acupressure may be helpful. See your acupuncturist.

Homoeopathy. Your homoeopath may suggest a variety of remedies such as Causticum, Zincum metallicum or Sulphur.
