New mum

New mum
Giving birth triggers more amazing physical changes and hormonal adjustments for a woman's body. As soon as the placenta is delivered, there is a profound fall in her levels of pregnancy hormones, and in the weeks following, a number of physical changes occur. These early days and weeks after giving birth are a time to learn, heal and recover.

Here, we look at the woman’s emotional and physical recovery after birth.  We also cover postnatal check-ups, returning to work, and sex and contraception.
