Is there anything I can do to help prevent stretch marks?
Our midwife Melissa says:
"There are many products on the market that aim to minimise stretch marks. Others hold the view that stretch marks cannot be minimised by creams, lotions and potions as the health of our skin is determined by the food we eat and our general health and well-being. Others still suggest that stretch marks are genetic, and from that aspect, some women are “doomed” to suffer stretch marks and others will never see a stretch mark!
"In all fairness, there is probably some truth in all of the above. A sensible and healthy eating plan will help not only stretch marks, but also help you to birth a healthy baby, experience a healthy pregnancy with minimal or no complications and feel energised through your pregnancy. Creams and lotions cannot cause any harm and some women feel better for using them. Genetics will determine how your skin generally stretches. "
