Lifestyle choices
There are some everyday lifestyle habits that can contribute to reducing the chances of experiencing a headache occurring and/or treating one if it does. These can include:
Avoiding what is causing the headaches
Resting and relaxation
Eating well and drinking water
Avoiding caffeine
Avoiding what is causing the headaches. If you can work out what is causing your headaches (stress, tension, lack of sleep, skipping meals, not drinking enough fluids, relationship conflicts, anxiety or concerns, stuffy rooms, fluorescent lights, eye strain, too long in front of the computer), then dealing with these issues will be a starting point to see if the headaches improve.
Resting and relaxation. Some women will try a few
stress exercises and relaxation techniques. These may be helpful if you are not getting enough sleep. Resting when you can in a darkened room or taking regular breaks at work. Try to get some fresh air when you can.
Eating well and drinking water. Eating regularly and drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day to keep up your energy and prevent dehydration. Low energy levels and lack of water can cause headaches.
Avoiding caffeine. Too much caffeine (and caffeine withdrawal) can cause headaches. Caffeine is present in coffee, cola, chocolate and tea. Cutting down slowly over a few days may help. You can read more in
