Having a trial of forceps can be an emotional roller coaster for all involved. Firstly, the woman will need to come to terms with having a possible forceps delivery and / or a Caesarean operation, with all the feelings that can involve. Many parents can be a little taken back, with the thought of a Caesarean even being possible, at this late stage of the birth process.
Depending on how you feel about either intervention, you could hope that the forceps don't succeed, so that a Caesarean is possible, or you could feel like you are being 'pulled back from the brink' if the forceps are successful, and you are wheeled out of the operating theatre with a baby in your arms and no operation.
Take each step one at a time, and try and accept the wheels that are in motion. Sometimes the 'whatever will be, will be' attitude can help you come to terms with how your baby is eventually born.
