Bath time will grow to be one of the most special times of the day between you and your baby. But, at the start, it can seem a little worrying. They're so small and slippery that it helps to be prepared.
The following is a step by step description of how to bath your baby using a baby bath.
Ready, set ......here we go!

Fill the bath with cold water first then add the hot water. Use a bucket or bowl to fill the bath, rather than carrying a heavy bath (if this is the case).
If using the basin, run a little cold water to finish with, so you don't have a hot tap with hot dripping water. (This is also good habit to get into for toddlers on the move, who may try getting into the bath by themselves if you are distracted or touch the tap.)
The depth of the bath depends on you and your baby's preferences. You may need to experiment with the depth to see which you prefer. Many parents feel more comfortable with a shallower bath until they are handling their baby more confidently.
Mix the water around to disperse any hot spots. Check the temperature by testing the water with the inside of your arm or elbow. The water should feel comfortably warm, not hot. (Using your hands that have been mixing the warm water can be deceptive, as you may have adjusted to the heat and not be sensitive to a warmer temperature.)

Undress your baby down to their nappy. Keep eye contact with them and talk (or sing if you like) to reassure them. Wrap your baby snugly in a towel, making sure their arms are contained (to avoid having to cope with flapping arms!) |
