Contractions in the transitional phase
Some physical signs of transition
Things to consider in transition
'Transition' is the term commonly given to the end of 1st stage. Transition precedes the pushing phase. Whether this is your first, or subsequent, transition will normally demonstrate definite changes in the woman's labour pattern and / or behaviour. Occasionally, a woman will not experience any obvious changes to the contractions but her behaviour will change, or vice versa. For some women, transition is recalled as the 'hardest time' during their labour, for others there is no obvious transition.
